Pa Exploring July 2020

First I found a great sight for interesting sites across America. Who knew there was a Chef Boyadee statue or a twisted steel archway or how about a casket that is also a mailbox. I can see a lot of day trips that will be in my future.

Our first stop will be serenity glass park in Port Allegheny. A town that was called the glass manufacturing capital of the world. Its just a small corner in town but the artistry of using glass to create sculptures. There are colorful panels that are of important images that are 16 feet in height. There's also a glass archway that is the entrance to the area from the street.

Old Jail Museum Smethport,Pa. This is the original jail house and was converted to a museum  in 2003. Oh and according to Pursuits Magazine it is the 6th most haunted place in Pennsylvania. And like any good jail it has a dungeon.

Kinzua Bridge State Park is the home of the Kinzua Viaduct. The Viaduct was once the longest and tallest railroad structure before it was particularly destroyed by a tornado in 2003. It was originally began in 1881 for  New York, Lake Erie, and the Western Railroad to transport coal, lumber, and oil. It was rebuilt in 1900 to help it withstand heavier loads, and was used until 1959. The State park was founded in 1963.  The structure was 2,053 feet long and 301 feet high. Now that a lot of it was destroyed the pedestrian walkway is 624 feet and it jets out over the valley. If you didn't know I am afraid not scared shitless of heights but I was determined to go all the way out, especially since there would be a great photo shot to be had. Of course RJ needed to stand on the glass, I did not.

Yogi Bear statue and a stop at Parker's Indian trading post in Cooksburg.
