Halloween festivities
For the last few Halloweens I have ventured up to THE GREAT PUMPKIN BLAZE. First I must say that they are plastic pumpkins mostly, with the walkways having the only real pumpkins. It still impressive with over 7,000 pumpkins carved and displayed on the Manor grounds. This is fine with me but I do know some who are not. I know that I shouldn't put this out into the internet but I go in November because well I don't like crowds when I want to take pictures and need to keep a watch on a child in my keeping. Here are some pictures from this past year when I went with my mini me, aka RJ.
Gave him a camera when we went to Eastern Penitary over the summer and he's hooked. Going to have to give him one of my old cameras to start to learn with. He needs to learn to be patient and the pictures will come to the way he wants them.
The pumpkins on the ground are baby spiders (creepy) and the web is huge!
Statue of liberty is 25 feet tall (if memory serves me correctly)
The VanCortlandt Manor is now the Ending of the walk. When I first went it was the first stop, and it was crazy crowded. Who ever changed the flow, that was the best idea ever.
Can't say I've every seen a pumpkin ghost until this one at the end.
This tunnel is so impressive. It is a mini light show set to music. I just looked on the website and they call this the Pumpkin Planetarium, who knew. Still I could have stayed there all night just watching the light show.
The new Pumpkin Museum of Art was cool, and RJ stood next to his painting that he made in school awhile back.
There are the real pumpkins sitting on the wall. The skeleton is not. But still impressive all the different designs, Celtic pumpkins below.
And the last thing I am posting from this adventure is the dragon. There was also jack-n-the--box that popped out when the music stopped.
Lastly I just want to say this is so worth the trip and cost. After each visit I have gone to the diner down the street. It has the best mac and cheese, which I have nicknamed The Adult Mac & Cheese because it is made with four different cheeses (which at this moment I can't remember but I do know they are not normal cheeses ) If you get a chance go..... Hit the link at the top for more information. Now to figure out who to take next year.....
