Heading South Day 3 & 4
Anne, Becky and I started the day off right going for Mani and Pedi appointments.Becky made the reservations for The Woodhouse Day Spa. They told me there is a location in Kingston Pa. Don't tell me that, I might have to check it out. I just hope I didn't scare the girl with my toes LOL. Now I'm summer ready! They had a lovely boutique that I could see buying, EVERYTHING!
From there it was the first day of house hunting. But of course before meeting up with the realto we had lunch at East Bay deli. I had the Terrific Turkey Melt and it lived up to its name. This was different than I expected. Clay the realtor drove us around different neighborhoods to get a feel for what might be of interest. My take away from this day was gorgeous houses but a lot of the neighborhoods had little to no property, the house took up most of the property. Each development had a rec area (pool, tennis courts, etc...) These are an example of the houses. It was like an episode of "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" and I was Robin Leach. (If you know the show, I know you heard his voice in your head).
Dinner was at a restaurant in Charleston called High Cotton. The place was gorgeous and so was the food. The waiter knew her stuff and made some great recommendations. I chose a Charleston She Crab soup with big chunks of crab, and Scallops in black truffle sauce with crispy prosciutto, to finish off the meal, Anne and I split a Strawberry and Rhurbarb that was presented in a pyramid of pink chocolate. Scrumpious ending to a good day.
After another fabulous night sleep. Becky and I got up to see the sunrise. Positive note, it was beautfiul and I got quite a few to choose from for that perfect shot even with people in the shot.
The negative when we went to Sullivan Island to take pictures of the light house, the bugs bit the sh*t out of me. I have found the cure for bites: hand sanitizer, slather it on and no itching. The lighthouse is known as "Charleston Light" and it is quite unique in that its a slim and triangular steel frame structure. This is so it can withstand winds of 125 mph. It is made up of two different colors which have changed from red/orange and white to black and white block coloring. Though I think it could use a touch up in the paint. It is one of the most modern lighthouses in the country. It has not only an elevator but also air-conditioning. I could work there, they have AC.
More house shopping. I need to start playing the lottery! or get myself a generous sugar daddy. (went out that night and bought my lottery ticket so who knows). It was fun because today we got to go into a spec house and dream. There even is room for me above the garage. These were at Riverside by Carolina Park (Bolden Lake). Oh at every pond in the development there was a sigh about Alligators and I saw one sunny himself in the pond. Stay there buddy.
Late lunch at the Tavern and Table restaurant, right on the water. This time I had a crab salad roll. While we ate and looked out over the water, we saw several Pelicans flying then landing into the water. One bird flew over our car with a fish in it mouth. Living the natural Georgraphic life.
Dinner was at Opal restaurant and Bar. Seafood Soup/Bisque. A little spicy but otherwise excellent. And I chose the Paprika Chitarra with local shrimp, sweet corn, blistered tomatoes and spinach. Very good but again I wasn't thinking with all the acidic food I was eating, my bad.
Let me end on the fact that each restaurant had several things I so wanted to try and I guess I'll have to go back again and try again and again.
Here is a few pictures from my quick trip into Charleston.
Until the next adventure, happy travelling,
Kelli
