Day of exploring SC

DESTINATION AWAITS:
Today we hit several SC state Parks (Poinsett and Santee) We hiked one of the trails. Beautiful countryside. It is known as the “mountains of the midlands.” I can see why. It was hilly and definitely we were out of the lowcountry. There was various things to see: a pond where you could swim or canoe. There are a dozen or so different hiking trails of different levels. Went to Buc-cee’s in FLorence. This was not the day to go because it seemed everyone on route 95 south and north also wanted to check out buc-cee’s too. Also in FLorence we stopped at the store Rival A house Divided. Divided between Clemson and UofSC.

JUST THE FACKS (BRIEF HISTORY):
It was a beautiful day to take the back roads to Florence and kept on the back roads as much as possible. I will list the points for all the stuff from today.
* There is never a long line for the restroom at Buc-cee’s
*Buc-cee’s pull pork and Brisket sandwiches are worth the wait
* Rival’s is got everything and I mean everything you need
* Poinsett State Park: Named after John Roberts Poinsett. John oversaw the construction of roads and canals that connect his beloved state. This occurred in the 1800’s.
*Santee National Park located in the Sandhills of South Carolina. The visitor center is located at the west entrance park of the park. The East side is pretty and quiet. It is sits by Lake Marion.
*Santee has 4 hiking trails. Poinsett 13 various difficulties

TIPS TO KNOW BEFORE GOING:
*as always bring bug spray
*can rent boats for the pond
* keep an eye on the trail you have picked because they do intercept.
* Buc-fee’s go at an off time
* print off the maps before going to the SC parks. Some have them others don’t
*

WHAT TO DO THERE:
*Buc-cee’s get the sandwiches and Banana pudding
*pick a side and visit Rivals.
*Poinsett give enough time to hike the longer trails
*Santee get there early enough to Atleast one of the trails.

See you at the next bend in the road,
Kelli
